    Description

Mostly Lustrous 1859 Pattern Half, Judd-242

1859 P50C Half Dollar, Judd-242, Pollock-298, R.5, PR62 Red and Brown PCGS. Paquet's design for the obverse resembles the Greek god Dionysus with a ribbon inscribed LIBERTY set at odd angles at the base of the neck. The reverse has 50 CENTS in the center and is surrounded by a large wreath. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. Pink-red in color, the luster is overlaid with a few isolated swirls of medium brown patina. Modest, yet pleasing brightness is seen in the fields of this lightly hairlined pattern
    From the Lynch Collection. (NGC ID# 29CN, PCGS# 11981)
