    Description

1861 GOD OUR TRUST Half Dollar
    Judd-278 Bronzed, PR65 Brown

1861 P50C Half Dollar, Judd-278 Bronzed, Pollock-327, Low R.7, PR65 Brown NGC. CAC. The design is similar to the regular issue Seated half dollar, but the motto GOD OUR TRUST is placed within a scroll above the eagle. Struck in copper and bronzed with a reeded edge. This precursor reverse was struck in both copper and silver, and both metals have date position variants. This piece has the shield point near the right side of the 1 in the date. It is believed the pieces that were bronzed are restrikes. The reddish-brown surfaces are problem-free, save for a few tiny specks of carbon. The fields are predictably non-reflective from the bronzing process. Fully struck throughout.
