GOD OUR TRUST 1861 Seated Half
Judd-280, PR66+ Red and Brown Cameo

1861 P50C Half Dollar, Judd-280, Pollock-331, Low R.7, PR66+ Red and Brown Cameo NGC. Similar in design to the issued 1861 Seated half, except the motto GOD OUR TRUST is placed sans scroll on the upper reverse field. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. An antedated variety since the GOD OUR TRUST pattern dies were created in 1863 or 1864. This gorgeous pattern has considerable peach-red at the centers. The margins display powder-blue when the coin is rotated beneath a light. Fully struck and devoid of contact marks with a minor retained lamination (as made) beneath the S in TRUST.
Ex: Stack's (12/1987), lot 1018; Queller Family Collection Part Two (Heritage, 1/2009), lot 1587.
