    Gem Proof 1862 J-297 $10 Pattern

1862 $10 Ten Dollar, Judd-297, Pollock-355, Low R.6, PR66 Red and Brown PCGS. This is the Low Date variety listed by Pollock, with the two much closer to the border than to the bottom of Liberty's bust. The example presently offered is an amazing Gem Proof with nearly full mint red color, with some pale blue toning on the obverse. The reverse has complete and blazing orange luster with diagonal striae as minted. Few pattern issues retain this much eye appeal.(#70447)
