Bronzed PR65 Brown Copper 1862 Ten Dollar, Judd-298

1862 $10 Ten Dollar, Judd-298, Pollock-357, 358, Low R.6, PR65 Brown PCGS. The obverse has the regular issue design for the 1862 Liberty Head eagle. The reverse is similar to the regular issue design with the motto GOD OUR TRUST on a scroll in the field above the eagle. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. Low Date and High Date variants are known of this pattern. This piece is a Low Date example, the more frequently seen of the two, but still only about a dozen examples are known. Most of this pattern have been bronzed or gilt, as pointed out on the website. This piece is bronzed with a uniform reddish-brown finish and no reflectivity in the fields. Identifiable by a light spot above the 1 in the date.
