Description
Impressive 1862 GOD OUR TRUST Pattern Half Dollar
Judd-293, Pollock-351, Choice Proof
1862 50C Half Dollar, Judd-293, Pollock-351, R.5, PR64 PCGS.
Struck in silver with a reeded edge. The obverse is the same die
used to strike regular-issue 1862 Liberty Seated halves. The
reverse is nearly identical to the standard die as well, except
that there is the motto GOD OUR TRUST above the eagle's head.
Pollock notes that the W.E. Woodward catalog of May 1863 claims
that 25 original sets of this combined with a copper eagle pattern
were produced. Vibrant lavender and blue toning drapes the centers,
which contrast nicely against the hazel and russet toned margins.
Sharply struck and intricately preserved.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26VF, PCGS# 60443, GSID# 12486)
