    Description

Beautifully Toned Copper 1863 With Motto Seated Dollar, Judd-346

1863 $1 Dollar, Judd-346, Pollock-418, R.7, PR64 Red and Brown PCGS. The regular design type used for silver dollars beginning in 1866 when the motto IN GOD WE TRUST was added above the eagle. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. A backdated issue, part of a series of denominational and compositional sets dated 1863 through 1865 that were semi-officially produced a few years later for sale to well-heeled collectors. Splendid orange-red and lilac colors bathe this meticulously struck near-Gem. A tiny toning spot is inconspicuously located near Liberty's drapery below her elbow.
From The New Millennium Collection. (#70508)
