1863 Ten Dollar in Bronzed Copper
Judd-352, PR65 Brown CAC
GOD OUR TRUST

1863 $10 Ten Dollar, Judd-352, Pollock-424, High R.6, PR65 Brown NGC. CAC. Similar to the adopted design for the ten dollar Liberty, with the addition of the motto GOD OUR TRUST directly onto the field above the eagle's head. Struck in bronzed copper with a reeded edge. A note in George Eckfeldt's journal indicates specimens from these dies were struck in gold (Judd-351) on August 2, 1863. USPatterns.com states "about 2 dozen or so believed to exist" in copper. This is an outstanding Gem with an intricate strike and unblemished mahogany-brown toning. Census: 5 in 65 Brown, 1 finer. CAC: 3 in 65, 1 finer (2/25).
