    Description

    1863 1C One Cent, Judd-299, Pollock-359, AW-424, R.7, PR62 Brown NGC. 74.8 grains. Although Judd-299 is R.3 if all variants are combined, the vast majority of pieces encountered weigh between 47 and 50 grains (AW-423). AW-424 is the very rare 'thick planchet' variety. Struck from regular dies with a plain edge, but the alloy is bronze and the dies have medal orientation. Rich chocolate-brown coloration is seen overall with undertones of olive-green. The obverse is noticeably marked and hairlined which explains the grade.(#60453)
