Description
Transitional 1863 Bronze Cent Pattern
Judd-299, PR62 Brown
1863 1C One Cent, Judd-299, Pollock-359, R.3, PR62 Brown
PCGS. An experimental piece struck from the regular Indian cent
dies but without the L on the ribbon. Struck in bronze with a plain
edge, with the dies in medal alignment. These popular transitional
cent patterns are differentiated from Judd-300 by the presence of a
reeded edge on those pieces. In spite of the Brown designation,
there is a significant presence of red on each side of this
example.Ex: Early American History Auction (12/2001), lot 1236.
