    Gem Brown 1863 One Cent Pattern, Judd-299

    1863 1C One Cent, Judd-299, Pollock-359, R.3, PR65 Brown PCGS. An experimental piece struck from the regular Indian cent dies but without the L on the ribbon. Struck in bronze with a plain edge, with the dies in medal alignment. The fields display shallow mirrors, and the surfaces show a deep overlay of red-brown and blue-green patina. Crisply struck and free of hairlines or contact marks. Population: 6 in 65 Brown, 6 finer (1/09).
