    1863 Transitional Cent in Bronze
    Judd-299, PR66 Red and Brown

1863 1C One Cent, Judd-299, Pollock-359, R.3, PR66 Red and Brown NGC. Snow-PT1. Medallic alignment. Struck from regular issue dies, but struck in bronze with a plain edge. This is a transitional pattern for the 1864 bronze No L regular issue with plain edge. This is the more frequently seen thin planchet variant. USPatterns.com estimates approximately 200 examples are known of this transitional pattern. The fields are nicely reflective and there are faint glimmers of red remaining on each side. A few carbon spots are peppered over both obverse and reverse.
