    Description

    1863 Judd-299 Indian Cent, PR63 Brown
    Transitional Bronze Pattern

1863 1C One Cent, Judd-299, Pollock-359, Snow-PT1, R.3, PR63 Brown NGC. Struck from regular issue, plain edge dies, but in bronze instead of copper-nickel. The Indian cent alloy switched from bronze to copper-nickel during 1864. The dies exhibit medallic alignment, as usual for Judd-299. The present fully struck specimen offers deeply blended forest-green and gunmetal-gray toning with glimpses of the initial fire-red at the borders.
