1863 Judd-339 Half Dollar Pattern, PR65 Brown
Only Three Numerically Finer

1863 50C Half Dollar, Judd-339, Pollock-411, Low R.6, PR65 Brown NGC. The obverse die is from the Seated Liberty design used for regular-issue coinage in 1863. The reverse die features the standard perched eagle motif with the addition of a scroll with the motto GOD OUR TRUST inscribed. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. An extraordinary strike, with all the details fully brought up. The surfaces are olive-brown, with subtle red and lilac overtones. Census: 4 in 65 Brown, 1 finer (2/25). PCGS has certified two finer submissions.
