    1863 Liberty Seated Half Struck in Copper, Judd-343

    1863 50C Half Dollar, Judd-343, Pollock-415, R.7, PR64 Red and Brown PCGS. Struck with a reeded edge from regular issue Seated Liberty Half Dollar dies, but in copper instead of silver alloy. Part of a denomination set in copper that was produced for sale to selected dealers or collectors. This exquisitely struck near-Gem has intermingled pumpkin-orange and lilac colors. An occasional indication of carbon is all that prevents an even higher grade. Population: 2 in 64, 1 finer (10/03).(#70505)
