Description
1863 Washington Head, Judd-305, Two-Cents
1863 Two-Cents, Judd-305, Pollock-370, R.4, PR 65 Red and Brown PCGS. The Floyd Starr specimen, as designated by PCGS on the insert. Head of Washington on the obverse with the experimental motto GOD AND OUR COUNTRY above and date below. The reverse is similar to the adopted design but the word CENTS is curved at a sharp angle. Struck in bronze with a plain edge. Approximately half of the original cherry-red color is visible amidst mottled steel-blue overtones, with only a single speck of carbon noticeable above the portrait.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 29EK, Variety PCGS# 70460, Base PCGS# 60460, Greysheet# 12553)
