Description

1864 1C J-355 MS65 PCGS. 1864 Indian Cent, Judd-355, Pollock-425, R.6, PR 65 Red PCGS. Regular die trials issue for the Indian cent. Struck in aluminum-copper with a plain edge. Patterns of this type are compositions of varying amounts of copper and aluminum alloy, with this a combination of 90% copper and 10% aluminum. One tiny speck is noted in the field below the truncation near the 1 of the date. Brassy color from the unusual alloy. An important example for its superlative grade and unblemished, original color. Believed to be first graded by PCGS (4/97) with this metal alloy combination.
