1864 Copper Cent Striking, No L Dies
    Judd-356A, MS62 Brown

1864 1C One Cent, Judd-356A, Pollock-427, Low R.6, MS62 Brown PCGS. Struck from regular-issue No L dies, but in copper on a thick planchet and with a plain edge. A dozen or so pieces are believed known, and this issue is rarely seen with any remaining red color. In the past some have been identified as having bronze composition, but they are most likely error strikings. The surfaces are glossy mahogany-brown and show a couple of grade-limiting ticks on the cheek. The obverse die is misaligned, causing a railroad rim between 11 and 3 o'clock.
