Description

Select Proof Copper-Nickel 1864 Two Cent Piece
Judd-371, Struck With a Partial Collar

1864 2C Two Cents, Judd-371, Pollock-440, Low R.6--Partial Collar--PR63 NGC. From regular issue Large Motto dies, but struck in copper-nickel instead of bronze. Well struck and unabraded with golden-brown toning and a small spot to the left of prominent 2. The partial collar error is difficult to see because the edge is obscured by the holder. However, both sides exhibit a wire rim that varies considerably in height and thickness. The wire rim is especially prominent on the obverse near 12 o'clock.
