Rare 1865 No Motto Seated Dollar in Copper, Judd-437

1865 $1 One Dollar, Judd-437, Pollock-510, R.8, PR64 Red and Brown PCGS. Both sides feature the same die design that was used on regular issue 1865 (No Motto) Dollars, and as such is scarcer than the retro-dated With Motto pieces made of this date. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. Only two examples were believed to exist of this elusive die trials piece, the Farouk specimen certified PR63 Brown by PCGS and another coin permanently impounded in the ANS collection. This third specimen, tucked away for generations, displays subdued reflective qualities and glimmers of mellowed orange-red in the areas surrounding the devices.

Thanks to Heritage I realized a handsome profit for my coin submissions and intend to send most of the remainder of my collection to Heritage Auction Galleries for future auctions.
