    1865 Seated Dollar in Copper
    Judd-435, PR63 Brown

    1865 $1 Seated Dollar, Judd-435, Pollock-508, Low R.7, PR63 Brown PCGS. Ex: Simpson. The obverse die is the same as that of the regular issue 1865 Seated dollar, while the reverse is that of the regular issue Seated dollar beginning the following year with the motto IN GOD WE TRUST on a scroll over the eagle. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. Examples are known in both silver and copper, with about a dozen confirmed of each. The fields on this piece are bright and mirror-like, shining forcefully through the pastel iridescence that covers each side. A few carbon spots are scattered across the obverse.
