    Description

    Copper 1865 Motto Eagle, Judd-450
    PR65 Red and Brown

1865 $10 Ten Dollar, Judd-450, Pollock-522, High R.6, PR65 Red and Brown NGC. A transitional pattern that pairs a standard 1865 obverse with the Motto reverse first issued for circulation in 1866. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. Not as rare as the Smithsonian's presumably unique gold specimen (Judd-449), but nonetheless a desirable Gem that boasts a full strike and rich orange-red toning. Hints of apple-green and rose are also evident. Distributed pinpoint flecks determine the grade. (NGC ID# 45RM, PCGS# 70637)
