1865 Pattern Cent Struck From Nickel Alloy
    Judd-406, PR60

1865 1C One Cent, Judd-406, Pollock-475, Low R.6, PR60 NGC. Snow-PT1c, from Plain 5 Snow-1 dies. From regular issue Indian Cent dies, but struck in nickel alloy with a plain edge. This curious pattern is possibly a Mint creation struck for sale to collectors. Struck from regular dies that were later used on 1865 Plain 5 cents. Unlike other examples this piece shows definite reflectivity in the fields and is fully brought up in the centers. Numerous small and medium-sized contact marks explain the grade. The surfaces are bright-white throughout.

Thanks to Heritage I realized a handsome profit for my coin submissions and intend to send most of the remainder of my collection to Heritage Auction Galleries for future auctions.
