    Description

Choice 1865 Three Cent Nickel Prototype Judd-410

1865 3CN Three Cent Nickel, Judd-410, Pollock-481, Low R.6, PR64 NGC. Very similar to the adopted design, the most obvious difference being in the width of the ribbon ends, which reach the dentils. Struck in nickel with a plain edge. 1865 is the scarcest date in the proof Three Cent Nickel series, but its lesser known pattern predecessor is even more elusive. This mildly reflective pearl-gray near-Gem has a needle-sharp strike and clean surfaces.

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26VL, PCGS# 60591)
