1865 $5 Five Dollar, Judd-446, Pollock-518, High R.6, PR66+ Brown PCGS. CAC. Ex: Harry W. Bass, Jr. Collection. The obverse die is the regular design for the year. The reverse is the design adopted in 1866, with the scroll over the eagle's head and the motto IN GOD WE TRUST added. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. This is one of more than a dozen examples of this transitional half eagle patterns. Deep brown surfaces exhibit magnificent glossy patina with elements of blue, rose, and peach-orange color.
