Description

Darkly Toned 1865 Half Dollar Die Trials, Judd-430

1865 50C Half Dollar, Judd-430, Pollock-503, R.6, PR 62 Brown, Artificial Toning. Regular die trials issue. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. The splotchy lilac-brown and green patina that adheres to both sides masks the underlying proof qualities and grade-defining surface impairments. Boldly struck, as one would expect, this is a suitable representation of a pattern delivery that is elusive in all levels of preservation.
