Choice Red 1865 Rays Shield Nickel, Judd-417
1865 5C Shield Five Cents, Judd-417, Pollock-489, Low R.7, PR64 Red NGC. This transitional pattern presents the Rays Shield nickel as issued for circulation in 1866, but the date is 1865. Struck in copper with a plain edge. A satiny brick-red and olive near-Gem with a precise strike and only minor carbon.
