    1866 No Rays Shield Nickel in Bronze, Judd-509

    1866 5C Shield Five Cents, Judd-509, Pollock-592, High R.6, PR66 Red and Brown PCGS. The obverse is the shield design used to coin regular issue 1866 nickels, the reverse is the regular issue type without rays that was adopted in 1867. Struck in bronze with a plain edge. This needle sharp representative has bright iridescence over both sides and can be identified by a small mark to the left of the date.
