Elusive 1867 Regular Dies Eagle
1867 $10 Ten Dollar, Judd-602, Pollock-667, High R.7--Scratched,
Cleaned--ANACS. AU Details, Net PR30. Regular die trails
striking of the 1867 Liberty eagle. Struck in copper with a reeded
edge. This piece was apparently passed off as a gold piece. It
circulated briefly, acquired a few small marks, then was
pinscratched on the obverse field to determine its metal content.
It has unnatural olive and rose colors. An opportunity to acquire a
rarely encountered pattern at an affordable price. (NGC ID# 29MV, PCGS# 60814)
