Select Proof 1867 Quarter Eagle Struck in Copper, Judd-595

1867 $2 1/2 Quarter Eagle, Judd-595, Pollock-659, R.8, PR63 Brown PCGS. Regular die trials striking for the 1867 Quarter Eagle. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. Only two pieces are believed known. The only other specimen that we are aware of, a PCGS PR64 Red and Brown, sold in our 1995 ANA Sale. The logical conclusion would be that this is the King Farouk piece, and the wispy blemishes beneath irregular coppery-brown patina only substantiate this statement. (#60807)

Thanks to Heritage I realized a handsome profit for my coin submissions and intend to send most of the remainder of my collection to Heritage Auction Galleries for future auctions.
