1867 Longacre-Designed Nickel in Aluminum
Judd-561, PR65 Cameo

1867 5C Five Cents, Judd-561, Pollock-622, R.5, PR65 Cameo PCGS. CAC. The central obverse device is a head of Liberty facing left, wearing a headdress of four large feathers and a ribbon with the inscription UNION AND LIBERTY. Resting on the hair in front of the ribbon are four large stars. The chief engraver's name LONGACRE F. is stylishly displayed at the truncation of the neck. The legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA around, with the date in the exergue. The reverse features a Roman numeral V over an ornate shield, with IN GOD WE TRUST at the top. Struck in aluminum with a plain edge. Streaks of light tan toning cross well struck, reflective, and minimally marked surfaces. Cameo frost is readily apparent.
