1867 Rays Shield Nickel in Copper, Judd-572

1867 5C Shield Five Cents, Judd-572, Pollock-648, Low R.7, PR63 Brown PCGS. A regular issue With Rays die trial striking, produced in copper with a plain edge. Extensively mellowed with countless tiny carbon flecks found primarily on the reverse. As was pointed out in a sale from last year "The Proof 1867 With Rays Shield Nickel is a prohibitively expensive rarity, and the present pattern is not only more affordable, but is also even more rare than its famous copper-nickel counterpart."
