1867 No Rays Shield Nickel in Copper
Judd-573, PR65 Red and Brown

1867 5C Shield Five Cents, Judd-573, Pollock-649, Low R.6, PR65 Red and Brown PCGS. The regular dies for the No Rays Shield nickel, struck in copper with a plain edge. This piece displays a retinue of toning with bright reds, greens, and violets which elucidate its appeal. The strike is excellent and there are no marks that would demean the coin. While more than a dozen are known, they are seldom seen as fine and we have only had the opportunity to offer just one other Red and Brown example in the last five years (4/26).
