Description

Elusive 1868 One Cent Nickel Pattern
Judd-608, PR63 Cameo

1868 1C One Cent, Judd-608, Pollock-673, R.4, PR63 Cameo NGC. The design closely resembles the contemporary three cent nickel, but only a single pillar represents the denomination within the wreath, and the ribbon ends are more prominent. Struck in nickel with a plain edge. Pleasingly contrasted with surfaces that are bright nickel-white at first glance, though closer inspection reveals considerable milk-spotting and a few cloudy overtones. Minor hairlines contribute to the grade.
