Description

1868 1C One Cent, Judd-608, Pollock-673, R.5, PR64 PCGS. The design closely resembles the contemporary Three Cent Nickel, except that the reverse has the Roman numeral I. Misattributed by PCGS as Judd-605, which is very similar but has the date touching the bust. The 'high date' variant of Pollock-673, which has the 1 in the date slightly higher and centered between denticles. Struck in nickel with a plain edge. Pastel gold and mauve patina embraces this crisply struck and well preserved near-Gem.(#60820)
