    Description

1868 Three Cent Nickel in Nickel
    Judd-618, PR63

1868 3CN Three Cent Nickel, Judd-618, Pollock-687, R.4, PR63 ANACS. Similar to the regular issue, but the Roman numerals on the reverse are smooth instead of fluted. Struck in nickel with a plain edge. Examples were also struck in copper and aluminum, but the nickel strikes are by far the most obtainable. The surfaces are nearly brilliant but close examination shows slight oil-slick iridescence over each side. The only mark of any note is a shallow scratch in the lower reverse field.

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 29NA, PCGS# 60834)
