1868 Three Cent Nickel in Nickel
    Judd-618, PR63 Cameo

1868 3CN Three Cent Nickel, Judd-618, Pollock-687, R.4, PR63 Cameo PCGS. The Judd-618 design is similar to the regular-issue three cent nickel, but the date is larger and irregularly spaced as 18 68, the wreath is farther from the rims, and there are no ribs on the reverse columns. Struck in nickel with a plain edge. This is a fairly common pattern in nickel. It is also known in copper with only a half dozen examples believed known, and there is only a single aluminum piece extant. The fields are moderately reflective and almost brilliant. There are a series of unusual divots in the face of Liberty. We are not quite certain of the origin of these, but cannot rule out that they may be of Mint origin. Nicely contrasted fields and devices.
