    Description

    1868 Three Cent Nickel
    Judd-618, PR63

1868 3CN Three Cent Nickel, Judd-618, Pollock-687, R.4, PR63 PCGS. Similar to the regular issue, but the Roman numerals on the reverse are smooth instead of ribbed. Struck in nickel with a plain edge. While nickel strikings are the most frequently seen, examples are also known in copper and aluminum (only one known). The fields are only moderately reflective, a trait often seen on nickel coins. Most of each side appears light gray, but close examination reveals just the slightest hint of iridescence.

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 29NA, PCGS# 60834)
