Description

Bright 1868 Five Cent Pattern, Judd-624
PR64 Cameo

1868 5C Five Cents, Judd-624, Pollock-693, Low R.6, PR64 Cameo PCGS. The obverse bears the Longacre portrait of the issued three cent nickel. The reverse has a peripheral wreath and a centrally placed denomination. IN GOD WE TRUST in minuscule letters crosses the upper border. The rims are unusually broad. Struck in nickel with a plain edge. The surfaces are brilliant and the obverse fields display pronounced evidence of die striations, while the reverse fields show very little. Noticeably contrasted on each side. Sharply defined and essentially problem-free, this piece appears finer than the stated grade. (NGC ID# 29NF, PCGS# 60841)
