    1868 Pattern Nickel Struck in Copper, Judd-632

    1868 5C Five Cents, Judd-632, Pollock-702, High R.7, PR65 Red and Brown NGC. The obverse closely resembles the contemporary Three Cent Nickel, and the reverse has a prominent Roman numeral V within a wreath of oak and olive leaves. The wreath is topped by ornate scrollwork and a six-pointed star. Struck in copper with a plain edge. Richly toned in gold, powder-blue, and ruby-red colors. A well struck Gem of this rare design that is impressively preserved aside from a faint abrasion on the reverse to the left of the denomination.
