1868 Three Cent Nickel, Judd-616, Pollock-682, R.7, PR 63 Red and Brown. The obverse is struck from the adopted three cent nickel dies, while on the reverse the Roman numeral III has a smooth surface and is surrounded by a wreath of corn, cotton, wheat, and tobacco. The obverse is set on a cent-sized planchet, leaving that side with extra wide borders, but the reverse looks normal. Struck in copper with a plain edge. Subdued brown color covers most of each side with some faded mint red still in evidence. Lightly spotted.
