1869 Standard Silver Ten Cents in Silver
    Judd-702, PR64

1869 10C Standard Silver Ten Cents, Judd-702, Pollock-781, R.5, PR64 NGC. Standard Silver design, with a diadem in Liberty's hair on the obverse. Oak and laurel wreath reverse, with STANDARD SILVER above, the date below, 10 CENTS in the center. Struck in silver with a reeded edge. GOD is widely repunched. This fairly common Standard Silver dime was struck in silver, copper, and aluminum. Each composition was produced with a plain and reeded edge. Predictably, the aluminum strikings are the scarcest. Each side of this piece has slightly hazy, deep rose and blue toning. The depth of the toning slightly obscures the mirrors, but at the proper angle they flash forcefully through the patina.
Ex: Sacramento Signature (Heritage, 3/2011), lot 4393.

Due completely to Heritage's thoroughly diligent and professional management and promotion of the collection, the faraday Collection stirred national attention among numismatists and the auction results brought a gross value greater than that last estimated by the experienced collector.
