1869 Aluminum Standard Silver Ten Cents
    Judd-707, PR65 Cameo

1869 10C Standard Silver Ten Cents, Judd-707, Pollock-786, Low R.7, PR65 Cameo NGC. Standard Silver design with the head of Liberty facing right with a diadem in her hair, motto below, and UNITED STATES OF AMERICA above. The reverse has 10 CENTS in the center, surrounded by a wreath of oak and laurel, with STANDARD SILVER 1869 around the margin. Struck in aluminum with a plain edge. Less than a half-dozen examples are known of this plain edge aluminum strike as well as the reeded edge variant. Silver examples are fairly common, while copper strikes are significantly scarcer. The surfaces are heavily contrasted between the depth of mirroring in the fields and thick mint frost on the devices.
