    1869 Standard Silver Quarter, PR64 Red
    Judd-730, Struck in Copper

    1869 25C Standard Silver Quarter Dollar, Judd-730, Pollock-811, Low R.7, PR64 Red PCGS. A Standard Silver design with a bust of Liberty facing right on the obverse. Liberty is wearing a diadem and a ribbon inscribed LIBERTY. The motto IN GOD WE TRUST is on a scroll at the bottom, and the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is around the periphery. The reverse depicts the denomination 25 CENTS within a wreath of oak and laurel. STANDARD SILVER is at the top, the date 1869 is below. Struck in copper with a plain edge. The orange-gold color has mellowed only slightly on the cheek and right obverse field.
    Ex: Columbus Central States (Heritage, 4/2002), lot 7611; Portland Signature (Heritage, 3/2004), lot 6658, which realized $3,220.
