A bust of Liberty faces right, with her hair tied in a bun. She wears a head band inscribed Liberty; the front of the band has a star. IN GOD WE TRUST is placed on a scroll in the exergue, and 25 CENTS is crowded within a wreath on the reverse. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. A meticulously struck specimen with splendid ruby-red, aqua, and magenta colors. Although the surfaces are exquisitely preserved, a mint-made planchet flaw affects the AN in STANDARD, and a smaller planchet flaw is noted on the reverse rim at 1 o'clock.
