    Red Gem Proof Copper Judd-736
    1869 Standard Silver Quarter

    1869 25C Standard Silver Quarter Dollar, Judd-736, Pollock-817, Low R.7, PR65 Red NGC. Standard Silver design with Liberty facing right on the obverse, a single star on a head band that is inscribed with the word LIBERTY, a scroll is below with the motto on it, and around the remainder of the obverse periphery is UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. The reverse has 25 CENTS in the center and is surrounded by an oak and laurel leaf wreath, STANDARD SILVER above, and the date below. Struck in copper with a plain edge. Mostly cherry-red with glimpses of lilac and areas of straw-gold on the left fields. A couple of tiny gray obverse freckles provide identifiers.
    Ex: Santa Clara Signature (Heritage, 11/2001), lot 6746; Orlando FUN (Heritage, 1/2008), lot 3597, which realized $6,900.
