1869 Three Cent Nickel Pattern, Struck in Nickel
Judd-676, Short Dentils, PR60

1869 3CN Three Cent Nickel, Judd-676, Pollock-753, 755, R.4, PR60 PCGS. Similar to the contemporary three cent nickel, except the date is larger and the denomination pillars are smooth. Struck in nickel with a plain edge. There are two variants of the Judd-676. One has short dentils and is the more frequently encountered of the two. The other has long dentils. This piece has short dentils. Nicely struck with rich lilac-gray patina. The obverse has wispy handling marks that account for the grade.
