Gem Cameo Proof 1869 Three Cent Nickel Pattern, Judd-676
1869 3CN Three Cent Nickel, Judd-676, Pollock-753, R.5, PR65 Cameo NGC. Similar to the contemporary Three Cent Nickel, except the date is larger and the denomination pillars are smooth. Struck in nickel with a plain edge. Nicely struck with rich lilac-gray patina. Every bit the Gem, this carefully preserved example is free of bothersome hairlines and contact marks. There are some tiny, scattered planchet voids (as produced), most notably in the reverse field around the Roman Numeral III in the denomination. Both sides are untoned, or essentially so, with solid cameo contrast.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 29PV, PCGS# 60901, GSID# 13347)
