    1869 Standard Silver Half in Aluminum
    Judd-752, PR63

    1869 50C Standard Silver Half Dollar, Judd-752, Pollock-835, Low R.7, PR63 PCGS. CAC. Standard Silver design with Liberty wearing a diadem and scroll below, the reverse reads STANDARD SILVER 1869 around the rim with 50 CENTS in the center of an oak and laurel wreath. Struck in aluminum with a reeded edge. The rarity of this obverse / reverse design ranges from the relatively common to unique. This aluminum striking is only known to the extent of approximately a half dozen pieces. The metal is slightly dimmed, but strong reflectivity remains in the fields.
