1869 50C Standard Silver Half Dollar, Judd-754, Pollock-838, R.5, PR62 PCGS. The R in LIBERTY is recut on this entry within the extensive Standard Silver pattern series. Liberty wears a headband that has a large star in the center, and her hair is tied up in a bun. 50 CENTS is crowded within an oak and laurel wreath. STANDARD SILVER and the date are appropriately placed on the reverse border. Struck in silver with a reeded edge. A boldly struck piece with attractive golden-brown patina accented with multicolored iridescence. A few faint hairlines are appropriate for the grade. Population: 16 in 62, 23 finer (10/09).
